Postmarital Residence Patterns

The rules governing where a married couple settles relative to each spouse family, a standard axis of kinship classification alongside descent: patrilocal residence with the husband kin, matrilocal residence with the wife kin, avunculocal residence with the husband mother brother, and neolocal residence forming an independent household.
