Michael Omi is an American sociologist, writer and educator, born in 1951, who has served on the faculty at the University of California, Berkeley, and is associate director of its Haas Institute for a Fair and Inclusive Society. He is best known for developing the theory of racial formation together with Howard Winant, and his work spans race theory, Asian American studies and antiracist scholarship.
