Richard Sennett is an American sociologist, the Centennial Professor of Sociology at the London School of Economics and former University Professor of the Humanities at New York University. He is a Senior Fellow of the Center on Capitalism and Society at Columbia University, and his research has studied social ties in cities and the effects of urban living on individuals in the modern world.
